Listen to Correspondence HERE

Mondo Love & Betrayal bring you their incredible debut single Correspondence, out Thursday 28th February on NuNorthern Soul. Dreamy, laid back and atmospheric whilst retaining a dance aesthetic, let the warm tones of Correspondence wash over you at a sunset near you this spring.

Neil ‘Nail’ Tolliday, (one half of downtempo twosome Bent), reached out to singer-songwriter Henry Claude Scott to secure his skills as a guitarist. The pair quickly hit synergy, creating a rich vein of synth-pop songs blessed with thoughtful, emotional lyrics and sumptuous vocals. Mondo Love & Betrayal were born. Correspondence was the first track completed. And it’s beautiful.

When you press ‘play’ on Correspondence, sitar synths and a deep, relaxed bass draw you in. You start to feel warm as the dreamy sonics and sunset-ready musical colours wrap around you. Henry Claude Scott sings directly to you in an androgynous high alto / falsetto, layered with harmony.

“And I don’t wanna talk about it any more / I’m hanging up on you.

And I don’t want to think about it any more / I’m cutting correspondence.”

Packed with tactility, warmth and bittersweet bliss, Correspondence’s rolling beats, picturesque pads, exotic melodic motifs and lilting, sun-soaked lead lines just make you feel happier.

Henry Claude Scott tells us more: Everyone seems to have either a drawer full of either Nokia bricks or obsolete smart phones; there’s something pathetic, yet heartwarmingly nostalgic about that. The tongue-in-cheek lyrics reflect how communication has changed.’

Phil Cooper (NuNorthern Soul) explains: "I’ve worked closely with both members of Mondo Love & Betrayal. When Neil ‘Nail’ Tolliday sent me Correspondence, I was immediately taken by it…but hearing Henry’s vocals really caught me off guard. I had no idea he could sing, let alone with the kind of dynamic range he reveals here. I asked to hear more straight away, and Neil sent through an initial five tracks.”

If you love Correspondence, make space in your collection for Mondo Love & Betrayal’s eponymous debut album, unleashed later in 2026. A vibrant, colourful and deeply emotive sprint through 1980s synth-pop inspired pastures chock full of heartfelt references to pioneering artists and producers of the period, from Pet Shop Boys, Arthur Baker and Depeche Mode to New Order, Martin Hannett and Shep Pettibone.
