Justin Martin's What To Do label serves up a refreshing new EP from Baby Weight

Baby Weight, aka Cara Eser hails from Washington, D.C. and has burst through with a distinctive style of dance music that is rich in melody and designed for the party. She has served up albums and EPs that climbed high in the Beatport charts and picked up support from peers like The Blessed Madonna and Claptone. There is great emotional integrity in her music and she is in the middle of a busy run of gigs that take her from a huge He.She.They. showcase at Coachella to her European debut in August. Now the celebrated trans-woman offers up three tracks of freshly squeezed sonic bliss designed "to quench and revive."

The title track 'Lavender Lemonade' is a heavenly groover neatly loaded with a dancing bass line, angelic organ riffs and a diced-up amen break that keeps dancers on their toes. Claire George's vocals shimmer brightly on top of Baby Weight's production for a match made in heaven. The superb 'Pay Your Dues' featuring D.C. cohort Bagel is an optimistic saga with its uplifting progression earning its way into your heart. Ascending synths of all shapes and sizes unite and soar as they are propelled by air-tight drums and a complimentary acid line that brings the whole thing home. Rounding out this package is the summery and nonchalant 'U Got My Power' with a plucky bass line, full-bodied synth swells and skittering hi-hats, although the super sweet pay-off comes from an effortless switch up into liquid d&b.

Baby Weight's Lavender Lemonade EP comes on What To Do on July 19th 2024.
