INVOCAMVS presents SEÑAL MUERTA [MAØ001]

Every new label begins with a question: what does it want to sound like?
For MAØ Records, the answer arrives through four tracks by Invocamvs.
Señal Muerta is the Barcelona imprint's debut release, and from the first catalogue number onward its intentions are clear. This is a label interested in dark, industrial and hypnotic techno, but also in the details that exist beneath the genre's most obvious physical characteristics.
The record is built around weight and movement, but its real focus is structure.
Invocamvs is the dark-techno alias of José Manuel Díaz Forte, a producer who has been developing the project since 2023 while drawing on more than twenty years of experience in electronic music production.
That long relationship with sound becomes important when considering the EP.
Señal Muerta is not presented as a collection of experiments. It feels like the beginning of a defined language.
“Maston” opens the record with an emphasis on percussion and physical momentum. The track establishes the basic grammar of the EP: heavy rhythm, industrial texture and repetition.
From there, “No Limit” expands the hypnotic side of the project.
The track's importance lies less in dramatic transformation than in the way repetition can alter perception. In hypnotic techno, the loop is not the destination. It is the environment.
Once the listener enters that environment, tiny changes begin to matter.
The title track, “Señal Muerta”, gives the release its strongest conceptual image. The phrase evokes a transmission that has stopped, but it also raises the possibility of what remains after communication ends.
Those ideas sit comfortably alongside Invocamvs' approach to rhythm and texture. The tracks are constructed from interconnected elements rather than isolated gestures, creating a sense of density without requiring constant stylistic movement.
“The Animal” completes the EP, keeping the focus on the physical and hypnotic qualities that define the preceding tracks.
Together, the four pieces operate as a single environment.
That unity is significant for MAØ Records. A debut label can easily become a collection of disconnected statements, particularly when there is pressure to demonstrate versatility. MAØ001 takes the opposite approach.
The result is a clear sonic identity from the first release.
Invocamvs' connection to clubs and festivals across Europe further reinforces the record's physical dimension. His preference for vinyl places the project within a tradition of DJ-led techno where tracks are not only compositions but tools for manipulating time, space and movement.
Yet Señal Muerta is not limited to its potential use inside a club.
The attention to rhythmic layering gives the EP enough internal information to reward more concentrated listening. The tracks can be approached physically, but they can also be examined as constructions.
That duality is perhaps the most useful way of understanding the release.
MAØ Records wants the dancefloor, but it also wants detail.
Invocamvs provides both sides of that equation.
The four tracks do not attempt to tell the listener everything about the project. Instead, they establish a set of coordinates.
From here, the catalogue can move anywhere.
But MAØ001 has already established its first point of reference.
Señal Muerta is therefore not simply the first release from a new label. It is the opening of a sonic space — compact, physical and deliberately shadowed — where repetition becomes movement and texture becomes atmosphere.
The first door is open.
