Defex curates impressive Forest Stage at 528 Ibiza - final date of takeover this Saturday, 19th September

Defex is currently the talk of the town and people are voting with their feet. Pikes Presents gave one of their resident DJs their smaller open-air stage at 528 to programme for 3 Saturdays in September. Unremarkable so far? It turns out that many on this island have been waiting for this moment. The stage has exceded all expectations, starting strong in the first week and reaching capacity last week. This Saturday (19th September) is the final date of his 3 week takeover of the Forest Stage, so make sure you come along. 

Thousands have come to 528 Ibiza to dance this summer and most who have, agree it’s their favourite venue on the island, the Garden Stage, The Club, and The Theatre providing fantastic spaces day or night. There has certainly been a lot of investment in 528 Ibiza since its days as a amusement park in the 1970s, mostly within the last few years. But there’s more to the map than what most get to see, including the Forest Stage.

Defex, through his residency at Pikes, put forward a vision for the Forest Stage. His party within the party makes the Forest to a second main stage, offering an alternative sound and vibe to the Garden Stage. Over the last 2 weeks, guests have been chosen carefully to archive that, playing mostly b2b with Maxinne, Burbuya, Tsodor in Week 2; and Elisa Elisa and Claudio Ricci in Week 1. 

If you come to Ibiza regularly, you’ve probably seen Defex – at Pikes, 528, or Akasha. His lion’s mane swaying to the infectious beats he plays. The Bavarian, a long-time resident of Ibiza, lays down tracks a little differently to the others. In fact, he was one of the creators and curators of The Zoo Project, years before the venue became 528. Nobody has clocked up anywhere near as much playing time as Defex here.

Milou (happy birthday) and Federico Grazzini, Defex’s companions from those days of The Zoo Project, return to the Forest Stage with him this Saturday. Both know how to move your feet. Flashbaxx brings his live act to the Forest Stage, bringing new bootleg twists to house classics. This is a sensationally well curated lineup.

Defex tells us more about Pikes Presents: The Forest Stage “It’s been surreal, and getting wilder week by week. The feedback has been incredible. It means the world to me, all the smiling faces (many familiar) come together. It’s amazing to see that lots of people have been waiting for this.”

And the fun doesn’t stop there. In the open-air Garden Stage, there’s HAAi B2B with Young Marco, plus  Mina. In the Theatre, once the outdoor stages close from 11pm, will be James Lavelle and Andy Baxter. 

You can regularly catch Defex at leading venues including Sisyphos or KitKat in Berlin, and he returns to Rave On Snow Festival at Saalbach, Austria this December.
