Kidnap, producer/DJ/multi-instrumentalist/lyricist (named for his too-successful youthful prank self-kidnap) enlists Chelou on new cut ‘Something to Say’, the penultimate single from his second album (out October 4th on [PIAS] Électronique).

‘Something To Say’ ft. Chelou: Low-pitched emotive synth chords form a misty mountain skyline behind the swiftly skipping beat running like a river under Chelou’s vocal, now soft and low, now high and clear, always yearning and nostalgic. ‘Nothing lasts forever…’ but warm memories get close.

Elusive yet established lyricist, producer and singer Chelou (meaning ‘hidden’) has garnered support from an arsenal of top tier tastemakers inc. Maya Jane Coles, BBC’s Lauren Laverne, Tom Ravenscroft, Huw Stephens, Clash, Wonderland… He has a haunting, melancholic sweetness to his sound, making him a perfect partner for Kidnap’s theme. ‘I've been a fan of Chelou's music for years and loved spending time writing together’ Kidnap says. ‘His voice has such a delicate beauty to it - it feels like he's telling the truth whenever he sings.’

Kidnap’s gift for spearing our emotions with melodic house shot through with his personal interpretations of indie, DnB and classical influences plus ambient sounds and textures has led to international acclaim. Recent LP singles won support from Mixmag, BBC Radio 1, Kiss, SiriusXM, DJ Mag… BBC Radio 1’s Sian Eleri labelled LP single ‘Fortified’ ft. Dwara, ‘a beautiful song I feel like I’ll turn back to every year for the rest of my life.’

The Album ‘Something Lost, Something Gained’ emerged from pandemic isolation and new fatherhood, as Kidnap aka Matt Relton crafted a themed collection of songs chronicling the shift from his wild days playing 100+ shows a year at top venues worldwide, releasing on Armada, Anjunadeep… to welcoming his new phase of life. Warm, organic electronics, acoustic elements and yearning vocals from varied guest vocalists make for ten cinematic, emotion-engaging tracks still firmly rooted to the dance floor.

‘It acknowledges that fully embracing the life I have now, means letting go of the touring and partying, the friends and the sleeplessness, while expressing my gratitude for having those experiences to look back on,’ says Relton.
